Yamaha R25 production ready version leaks online
Unveiled at the Milan Motorcycle Show in 2013, as a concept, the new Yamaha R25 is soon going to be launched. It is based on the their MotoGP racing bike, YZR-M1 and is expected to enter markets later this year.
The images you see below, are the first, which are believed to be of the production ready version of Yamaha YZF-R25. The motorbike will to receive a twin cylinder 250cc engine mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. The company has paid special attention to its design, fitting it with a superlight framework so as to enable it to move swiftly on the road.
Chassis is tubular with telescopic front suspension to tackle uneven terrain while disc brakes have been added to front and rear along with option of Anti Lock Brake System. Yamaha YZF-R25 moniker will receive a distinct Yamaha red, white and black livery.
With a body layout similar to that seen on board Yamaha R15, launched a few years ago the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R25 will be offered in a price range of INR 2.5 to 3 lakhs and will compete against Kawasaki Ninja 250R and Honda CBR 250R. Both these contenders have been seen to perform well on Indian road conditions. Adding the R25, will only add to their growing sales.
Yamaha sales in India have increased 34% in the past year. During 2013, the company sold a total of 6,51,487 units thanks to an ever growing portfolio, a ever expanding dealership network and sound after sales service facilities. (images via)
