Maruti Suzuki’s Alto, DZire, Swift and WagonR continued in top four spots on the list of best selling passenger cars in August 2015. 23,017 units of Alto were sold during August 2015, an increase of 7% as compared to 21,553 units sold in August 2014. DZire sales dipped marginally to 18,718 units as against 19,129 units sold in August 2014 while sales of Swift hatchback were to the extent of 16,811 units, a dip of 5% as compared to 17,716 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
However sales of WagonR increased by 12% in August 2015 with a total of 14,648 units sold as compared to 13133 units sold in August 2014. Maruti Suzuki Celerio also featured in the list of 10 best selling cars for August 2015 at No.7 position with 7,929 units sold during the month as against 6656 units sold in August 2014.
Ford India’s new car, Figo Aspire missed the list by a few hundered units. It registered sales of 5,176 units.India’s second largest car maker, Hyundai had three cars in the list – Grand i10, Elite i20 and the all-new Creta. The Eon, which has been a regular feature on the list, was missing from the list.
Hyundai Grand i10 saw total sales of 10,255 units in August 2015, an increase of 54%, while sales of Hyundai Elite i20 sales totalled 8,521 units, an increase of 29% over sales in corresponding months of the previous year. Sales of Hyundai Creta stood at 7,437 units.
Speaking about Honda Cars, they registered a 6.5 percent fall in domestic sales. 5,406 units of Honda City were sold during August 2015, marginally higher by 2 units as compared to 5,404 units of newly introduced Honda Jazz being sold during the month.
