2012 Audi Q5 SUV being recalled due to faulty sunroof
Volkswagen Group of America will be recalling 13,172 units of Audi 2012 Q5 due to certain reports of glass shattering in extreme weather conditions. The company has informed buyers that all 13,172 units manufactured between June 21, 2011 and December 9, 2011 should be brought in for sun roof assembly replacements.
Some vehicles may be fitted with a front sunroof glass panel which may be susceptible to shattering in extreme cost conditions. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, shattering of this glass poses a potential danger to occupants while also leading to driver’s distraction while driving thereby leading to accidents.
Though there are no reports of any such instances of sunglass shattering till date, the company is taking advance precautions to prevent such calamities. All defective sunroof glasses will be replaced free of charge and Volkswagen will be informing customers to bring their vehicles in while dealers will be informed to replace defective glass of sun roof free of charge. All such recalls will be effected by 7th August 2012.
