2013 CR-V boasts of revised design structures that compliments its interiors and exteriors. These features provide the vehicle with a larger boot space and lowered ride style that exudes a masculine feel. A flat underbody and a tucked in rear-end ensures that aerodynamic specifications are up to the mark. Unlike its outgoing counterpart, new CR-V will be assembled locally. But dont expect the new CR-V to be priced dramatically lower than the outgoing variant.
Coming to engines and transmissions, Honda India will be offering the new CR-V only in petrol powered engine options. The reason Honda India gives, for not launching the diesel variant, is that it will not be financially viable. Even if Honda India managed to sell 500 CR-V units a month (currently they sell around 50-60 every month), launching the diesel CR-V in India will not be profitable to the company. 2013 CR-V SUV will be offered in a choice of 2 engines, 2.0L and 2.4L, both of these will be offered with automatic and manual gearbox. Automatic CR-V will feature paddle shifters.
2013 CR-V with 2.0L generates 156 PS power and 190 Nm torque, while the one with 2.4L generates 190 PS power and 226 Nm torque. Honda says, the former delivers a mileage of 13.7 kmpl while the latter delivers 12 kmpl, in the MT guise. For AT the figures will be lower. Manual transmission is taken care by a 6 speed gearbox, while automatic transmission is taken care by a 5 speed gearbox. Honda Cars India will offer 2.0L CRV in FWD while the 2.4L will be offered in AWD.
New CR-V will feature ECON mode. In this mode, the intelligent system of the CR-V will automatically tune the engine, transmission and air-condition to work in such a way that the SUV delivers optimum mileage. For your entertainment, 2013 Honda CR-V features music system with 6.1″ touch screen, connectivity for iPod and USB. The touch screen is also compatible with satellite navigation. Other features include, cruise control, sun roof, ABS with EBD, six airbags, rear view camera, parking brake, hill assist and much more.
Honda India will also offer two accessory packages for 2013 CR-V – Inspire and Elegance. In Elegance, you get chrome finish for tailgate, sidestep, exhaust pipe along with chromed fog lights and tweaked front grille. In the Inspire package, you get a chrome on visor, garnish on the exhaust pipe and sidestep, running board and a tailgate spoiler.
