2013 Hyundai Veloster and Veloster Turbo will now be offered with new tyre option in the form of Michelin Pilot Super Sport. This option will significantly enhance performance of this hatch from Korean manufacturer Hyundai. These high performance tyres are widely accepted and are specially beneficial for their wet/dry grip abilities, cornering and braking performance while offering a comfortable and smooth ride.
Such is its performance, that Hyundai engineering tests show that skid pad lateral acceleration performance increased from 0.82g with the use of standard Veloster Turbo tyres to 0.94g with the Pilot Super Sport tyres. Braking too was enhanced when decelerating from 60 to 0 mph. Here that was a decrease from 135ft to 121ft with the new tyre while wet braking decreased from 157ft to 136 ft.
Pilot Super Sport tyres are available in sizes of 215/40ZR18 which is best suited for both Veloster and Veloster Turbo as they are fitted with 18” alloy wheels. Customers availing of these new tyre options will have to spend $1,200 in excess while those buyers who have already taken delivery of the Veloster or Veloster Turbo can contact their nearest Hyundai dealers for a change of tyres.

2013 HYUNDAI VELOSTER ADDS MICHELIN PILOT® SUPER SPORT SUMMER TIRE OPTION FOR PERFORMANCE PURISTS
COSTA MESA, Calif., Aug. 24, 2012 – Hyundai has added a high performance summer tire option for the new 2013 Veloster and Veloster Turbo. In an acknowledging nod to performance enthusiasts, Hyundai has selected the renowned Michelin Pilot® Super Sport summer tire as an option for its innovative sport coupe.
The Pilot Super Sport summer tire is widely accepted as one of the premiere summer performance tires available, with outstanding wet/dry grip, cornering and braking performance, all coupled with reasonable ride comfort, noise, and treadwear characteristics. In fact, in Hyundai engineering tests, skid pad lateral-acceleration performance increased from 0.82g with the standard Veloster Turbo tire to 0.94g with the Pilot Super Sport, while braking (60-0 mph) decreased from 135 ft. to 121 ft., and wet braking decreased from 157 ft. to 136 ft.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport Performance Tire
The Pilot Super Sport, size 215/40ZR18 tire option, will be available on both Veloster and Veloster Turbo models equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels. The tire package adds $1,200 to the bottom line for these models, with availability beginning in September. Veloster owners with 18-inch alloy wheels who already have taken delivery can also have the Pilot Super Sport installed by their Hyundai dealer if desired, subject to local availability.
