At the end of 2nd leg of the 11th Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally, Team Maruti’s Suresh Rana led in the X-treme category, and Raj Singh Rathore led in the Motoquad category. The rally passed through Jamsar, Siwani, Rajasar, Pilap, Bajju, Girandi and finally, Pabusar. At the end of the 3rd leg, Suresh Rana from Team Maruti was in the lead in the Xtreme category.
The 3rd leg commenced in Jaisalmer and covered a distance of 280 kms. Flagged off from Brand Center of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the events see a total of over 275 participants participating in four wheelers, two wheelers and motoquad categories. The teams include couples, all women’s teams and father son duos besides elderly driver navigation teams. As has been seen in the past, the current Maruti Desert Storm hopes to cause as much of excitement as it traverses a distance of 2200 kms, starting and culminating in Rajasthan. The journey will take participants across Bikaner, Chattargarh, Jaisalmer, Pokhran, Gajnaur and Lakshmangarh and will draw to a close on 23rd February 2013.
The rally is being conducted across four categories which include Xtreme, Motosquad, Ndure and Xplore and has seen participation from across the length and breadth of India. While a number of countries are represented, major contribution is seen from Bangalore wherefrom 9 motoring enthusiasts have entered the competition followed by 6 participants from Hyderabad. At the end of the 4th le, Suresh Rana is still in the lead in the X-treme category. Raj Singh Rathore leads in the Motoquad category, and Sanjay Takale leads in the Xplore category. With more than 1500 kms travelled, participants started in Jaisalmer and passed towns like Nokra, Kanji Ki Sird, Bap Railway Station, Pabusar, Kali Nadi Mandir, Bajju, Lakhsar and Pilap. The TSD (Time, Speed and Distance) model rally is open to all cars,and started at Bikaner today and ended at Jaipur.
