Launched in 2012, Sail built on a global passenger car platform is made especially for India, and other emerging markets, having crossed the million sales mark in July 2014. New Sail’s premium interiors bring forth comfort, convenience, and an upmarket appeal with its Corvette-inspired dual cockpit design with well-supported seats and new leatherette upholstery. Icy blue illumination complements new blended black and beige dual-tone interior withsilver and chrome highlights.

Sail hatchback and sedan’s smart and spacious design philosophy ensures room for up to five people in comfort. Short front and rear overhangs and a fuel tank positioned mid car maximises interior space with ample legroom for rear passengers. High roof design makes for ample headroom. Smart storage spaces and a spacious boot make storing stuff easy.

Sail 2 – DIN music system is Bluetooth enabled and can pair upto five phones, and music streaming. Interior appeal is enhanced with chrome surrounds on AC vent bezel and HVAC control knobs, and silver surrounds for door handles and gear shifter. Chevrolet’s signature golden bowtie on a black steering wheel adds to sportiness.

Sail exterior sports a dual-port grille upfront with a signature golden bowtie. “Hawk wing” style headlamps and “shooting star” style front fog lamps with chrome garnish surrounds are used. Streamlined vehicle shape reduces drag for lower fuel consumption. Large panoramic side windows with blackened-out effect and wide-opening rear doors give teh impression of a larger car. A chrome strip on the boot-lid is added. Sail is available in six exterior colours: Velvet Red (Sedan only), Super Red (Hatchback only), Switchblade Silver, Summit White, Caviar Black, Linen Beige, and Sandrift Grey.

1.3 -litre SDE SMARTECH turbo-charged common rail diesel engine with premium F17 transmission remains teh same as seen previously. It delivers 75 PS @ 4,000 rpm power, and 190 Nm @ 1,750 rpm torque with fuel economy of 22.1 km/l. The otehr engine option is a 1.2 -litre SMARTECH petrol. It delivers power of 83.6 PS @ 6000 rpm and torque of 108.5 NM @ 5000 rpm along with a fuel economy of 18.2 kmpl.

Gas-filled front and rear shock absorbers optimise damping on rough roads. McPherson struts in front and a torsion beam axle rear suspension with gas-charged dampers along with a rigid chassis enhance ride quality. 14″ tires enable Sail to drive over bumps and potholes with ease. Sail is fitted with equipped with dual air bags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake force distribution (EBD).
