2014 Honda City Diesel India launch date and variant features

Honda City diesel will sport same diesel engine as seen on board the recently launched Amaze, in the form of an all aluminum 1.5 liter i-DTEC engine offering 100 PS at 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm torque at 1750 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission and will be capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 12.8 seconds and claims a top speed of 190 kmph.

A petrol option will also be on offer. This will come with 1.5l iVTEC offering 119 PS at 6600 rpm and 145 Nm torque at 4600 rpm. This comes with two transmission options, five speed manual and a CVT, delivering mileage of 17.8 kmpl and 17.9 kmpl respectively.

Drive comforts are enhanced on board the new City sedan due to a well balanced chassis and lower kerb weight. Complaints about engine sound (diesel) have been looked into, as once inside the new City diesel, you will notice the refined engine. Apart from this, 4th gen Honda City gets features which include push button start, touchscreen audio, rear view camera and navigation system. The company has commenced pre-launch bookings across the country and booking amounts vary from INR 50,000-1 lakh with deliveries slated to start from the end of January 2014.

According to ICE, who have chanced upon some leaked information on the trims of new City along with features, the new Honda car will come with five trims. The good news is, that all models will feature ABS+EBD and driver airbag. The features missing from the base City model are, Touch panel aircondition, rear ac vents, audio system, cruise control, park assist, start/stop button, leather seats, fog lamps, driver seat height adjust, rear arm rest, rear power outlets, sunroof, steering mounted controls, alloys, and fog lamps.
