The GLA crossover is based on Mercedes Modular Front Drive Architecture, which is also seen in the A Class. However, in case of GLA, it is enhanced in size to offer better internal space and added comforts. The GLA is the fourth vehicle in the Mercedes Benz lineup to be based on this architecture, coming after the A Class, B Class and CLA. Dimensions of GLA stand at 4,292 mm x 1,780 mm x 1,433 mm.
Engine options for the GLA will include a the current options offered on the A Class, besides a new 2.0l turbo diesel offering 210 PS. Transmission will be taken care by a seven speed dual clutch auto gearbox. Mercedes Benz GLA is also scheduled to be launched in India next year.
An AMG variant is also on cards, reports ifeng. This will be in the form of 2.0L turbocharged four cylinder engine, which is also offered on the A 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG. The engine offers 355 hp. This model will come with sports seats, sports exhausts, AMG package, aggressive front bumper and sports tuned suspension settings.

Two years later, on exactly the same spot, we are presenting the Concept GLA, which provides a preview of the sportiest model in the compact premium SUV segment – an extremely interesting vehicle that brings additional momentum to our ongoing offensive in the compact premium class. Just like the A-class, the GLA offers an attractive overall package – also for customers who perhaps, until now, have not had our brand on their shopping list.”
