In August last year, Moffat and Caruso experienced historic one- two race results at Winton and the duo now look forward to similar performance with an updated aerodynamic package for the upcoming season.
2014 will see five manufacturers participate in V8 Supercars Championships while all participating vehicles have been readied for racing and have been aerodynamically homologated. The new Nissan Altima V8 Supercars get shallower scallops as noted on its front bar along with modifications to rear wing. The 2014 Norton Nissan gets pearl based yellow paint with reflective white vinyl for the circle on Norton’s famous ‘tick’.
Saturday, February 15, 2014 saw the two Norton Hornets in addition to Nissan Motorsport’s Jack Daniel’s Racing entries Todd and Rick Kelly hit the tracks for the first time this year at Sydney Motorsport Park for traditional pre season tests.
“Until we hit the track for the first time at the Sydney test, we won’t be getting too carried away with expectations. Hopefully it will be an improvement, and I’m sure it will be, so all we can do is head to the test, put our best foot forward and have a productive day,” said driver James Moffat ahead of the test.
Colleague Michael Caruso added: “For Nissan Motorsport and the two Norton Altimas, it’s important that we show strong improvement in our second year, and it’s critical that we start to win races. Whether that happens straight away, I’m not sure, but as more upgrades come through, then all the signs are there that we can start challenging on a week-to-week basis.”
