Bajaj Platina entry level commuter bike was until very recently spied testing with full camouflage. All of a sudden the 100 cc motorcycle is spotted showing off its brand new looks in a dealership in Mangalore.New Bajaj Platina variant gets new body panels with fresh graphic decals to distinguish the higher end model from older version that will continue to sell alongside. While clear lens indicators are usually considered to be an upgrade, Bajaj Auto has used orange tinted lenses in the new model despite having purely transparent ones in current Platina.
Instrument cluster is a carryover, with change of dial background from black to white in the process. Fuel tank appears to be the same, but seat looks slightly different. Tail section including grab rail is identical to existing model, save for the colouring of latter in body shade.
The most important change is new 102 cc DTS-i engine in 2015 Bajaj Platina ES, mated to 4-speed gearbox. The motor produces same 8.02 PS max power @ 7,500 rpm but much higher peak torque of 8.7 Nm @ just 5,000 rpm. Top speed is rated at 90 kmph and ARAI certified mileage is 96.9 kmpl.
New Bajaj Platina ES is a lone variant with no added option for disc brake. Only colours can be chosen from a list of three including Candy Red, Electron Blue and Ebony Black.
On-road price of 2015 Bajaj Platina Electric Start in Mangalore is Rs. 54,000, which is Rs. 4,500 higher than regular version.
