The upcoming 2015 Chevrolet Cruze follows its first generation Cruze which was launched at Paris Motor Show in 2008. Now 6 years later, the next generation Cruze comes in with a brand new design with a larger grille, well designed headlamps, a larger air intake and LED daytime lights positioned just above the fog lamps. The new Cruze is based on a new platform that GM has named D2xx. The rear end is seen with sleek tail lamps while trunk lid gets an integrated brake light.
Internally, 2015 Chevrolet Cruze gets a new dashboard with metallic accents and curved contours, a well defined touchscreen display and seating done up in saddle brown leather with black accents. 2015 Cruze will sport a 1.5 liter direct injection petrol engine offering 112 hp power and 146 Nm torque while higher variants will be powered by a 1.4 liter turbo engine offering 147.5 hp peak power and 235 Nm peak torque. 2015 Cruze will be slightly longer than its present counterpart with increased space in rear section and additional storage in the luggage compartment.
Interestingly, it is also revealed that the old Cruze will be sold alongside the new Cruze once it is launched. This is not new in China, Ford is already selling the old and new Focus in China simultaneously. Chevrolet will introduce the new Cruze and change the nameplate of old Cruze as Cruze Classic.
Chevrolet Cruze for China is made locally by Shanghai GM JV. The existing Cruze is priced at 108,900 yuan ($17,502). Once the new Cruze is launched, price of Cruze Classic will be reduced, and it is expected to start from 90,000 yuan. The price of new Cruze is expected to start from 120,000 yuan ($19,287).
