2015 Ford Endeavour to get two diesel engines in India
2015 Ford Endeavour is all set to be launched in India sometime in the festive season to have an advantage over its primary rival, new Toyota Fortuner. The SUV will be imported into India from Thailand in the form of CKD kits and assembled at Ford India’s plant in Chennai.
The India-spec version will be available with a choice of two diesel engines displacing 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre. The smaller motor has 158 hp and 385 Nm of torque on tap while the range-topping engine generates 197 hp and 470 Nm of torque.
Both motors will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission while the base power plant is also likely to be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 3.2-litre mill will receive 4×4 system while 2.2-litre unit is expected to be offered only in 4×2 configuration.
The ladder frame SUV packs in a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, 9-speaker surround sound system, powered third row seats and so on.
With a fresh design, modern interiors, additional equipment and improved underpinnings, new Endeavour is hoping to challenge Fortuner for the leadership in the lucrative premium SUV segment (INR 23-28 lakhs) in India.
