2015 Honda Jazz launched in India: Price, Specs, Features, Photos

Much awaited third generation Honda Jazz will be launched in India today. To be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options, new Jazz will rival the likes Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and top end variant of Maruti Swift.

Already sold in 75 countries, Honda Jazz has over 55 lakh customers around the world. The second generation was launched in India back in 2009, but due to low localization level and unavailability of a diesel engine, it was discontinued from the Indian market.

But this time around, Honda Car India have solved both those issues. The new Jazz comes with a localization level of 95%!!! – highest for any Honda car on sale in India. This is the reason why the new Honda Jazz is priced this aggressively.

 2015 Honda Jazz is a global car which was first launched in 2013.

Target customer for Honda Jazz are individuals in the age bracket of 25-30 years and who are earning Rs 50,000 – 1 lakh per month.

 

Exteriors

The rear of Honda Jazz.

Compared to the old Jazz, the new Jazz looks more sporty and compact. Design wise, the front of 2015 Honda Jazz features a black grille with chrome accents, swept back headlamps (no projector or LED on offer, even as accessory or option) and a lower air dam with honeycomb design.

Honda Jazz will be available in a total of seven colours – Tafeta White, White Ordhid P, Alabaster Silver, Carnelian Red, Urban Titanium, Golden Brown M, and Sunset Orange.

Side profile gets sharp shoulder line, which merges into the rear. Blackened B and C pillar add to the sporty character of the car, while body coloured electric ORVM and door handles gives the car a premium feel. Rear gets LED tail lamp cluster, roof spoiler, and a very evident thicker chrome slat.

Interiors

Boasting of best in class cabin space, interiors of the Jazz are finished in premium material. Sporting all black interiors with silver accents, the new Jazz receives a 15.7 cm touchscreen infotainment system (first in segment). Voice activated navigation, Bluetooth audio streaming along with DVD/CD playback also form a part of the infotainment seen on board the 2015 Honda Jazz.

Space inside is comfortable to seat five. It has plenty of legroom and headroom.

It also has Magic seats, automatic air conditioning and touch panel control are also features seen on the new Jazz while safety features include electrically folding ORVMs, multi view rear parking camera, ABS, EBD and driver and passenger airbags. The new Jazz boasts of 354 liters of boot space, highest in its segment while when magic seats are folded flat it adds upto 881 liters of storage. (This is more space than what the Maruti S-Cross offers!)

Engine and Mileage

Engine specifications include both petrol and diesel options. Petrol option is in the form of 1.2 liter i-VTEC, which is also seen on board the Amaze and Brio, but slightly tuned to offer 2 PS and 1 Nm extra. This engine delivers a total of 90 PS and 110 Nm torque. It is offered with 5 speed MT or a CVT with seven step paddle shifters.

The other engine option is the 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel engine, same as seen on board the Amaze, City and Mobilio. This engine is capable of generating 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque. It is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox and claims to offer ARAI certified mileage of 27.3 kmpl. This makes Honda Jazz India’s second most fuel efficient car (After Maruti Celerio diesel which claims 27.62 kmpl).
