Displaying a higher level of on board comforts, features and driving performance, the 2015 Hyundai Elantra is designed for instant appeal to buyers in the luxury segment. Boasting of a contemporary design, the 2015 Elantra will continue with bits and pieces of the outgoing car but will see new and cutting edge driving innovations as well.
On its exterior will be seen a hexagonal grille, projector headlights and daytime running lights while a redesigned front bumper with boomerang shaped fog lamps is more stylish and larger than that seen on the outgoing model. At the rear is a restyled bumper with black cladding and new reflectors. 2015 Hyundai Elantra sits on 10 spoke 16” alloy wheels with chrome accents while its window beltline also sports chrome accents as does its exhaust tip.
Hyundai India first launched the Elantra in 2004. The 2015 Elantra is an updated variant of the existing variant, and not a new generation model. New gen Elantra is expected to debut later this year, while India launch could take place next year.
Cabin changes are more pronounced with black seating, door panels and accents on the dashboard along with silver trims on dash and doors. Two central air conditioning vents are evident placed on either sides of the infotainment system as against under it as seen on the earlier model while the infotainment system sports a larger display and two rotary control knobs. Seats are comfortable and with ergonomic contours and 10 way power seats with lumbar support all done up in full leather for better comforts and appeal.
Infotainment on board 2015 Hyundai Elantra can be seen in a new generation audio with 4.3 inch color TFT LCD display and steering mounted controls which can be linked to smartphones via Bluetooth and a rear camera display. Other features also include smart key with push button start, electrically heater ORVMs and electro folding mirrors.
No dearth of safety features on board 2015 Hyundai Elantra as features include 6 airbags, vehicle stability management, EBD, ABS, hill start control, electronic stability control, rear camera, parking sensors and front and rear disc brakes.
2015 Hyundai Elantra runs on a 1.8 Dual VTVT petrol engine of 1797cc capacity. The engine is capable of 149.5 PS at 6,500 rpm and peak torque of 178 Nm at 4,700 rpm. It also receives a 1.6 VGT CRDi diesel engine of 1582cc capacity and capable of 128 PS peak power at 4,000 rpm and 260 kgm torque at 1,900-2,750 rpm. Fuel efficiency where the petrol engine is concerned stands at between 14.34 kmpl and 16.2 kmpl for the MT and AT variants respectively while the diesel engine MT variant offers 22.7 kmpl and the AT variant is capable of 19.1 kmpl fuel efficiency.
Pricing of the 2015 Hyundai Elantra which is offered in 6 exterior colors ranges from 14,13 lakhs for the S trim, Rs 15,41 lakhs for the SX trim and Rs 16,49 lakhs for the SX-AT trims. There are 4 diesel variants priced at Rs 14,57 lakhs for the base trim, Rs 15,35 for the S trim, Rs 16,67 lakhs for the SX trim and Rs 17,94 for the top of the line SX-AT trim.
