2015 Hyundai Santa Fe India silently receives 8 inch touchscreen

2015 Hyundai Santa Fe has just received a silent update of features, that are worth mentioning. They are, a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DVD, USB, AUX-in, Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, and navigation with preloaded maps, and automatic headlamp function.

The touchscreen GPS navigation system in 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe India gets preloaded maps that can be updated free of cost for three years from date of purchase. As for the catch, these equipment are offered only on automatic transmission variants of 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. There is an entry level variant with manual transmission, that will continue to host the older 4.3 inch touchscreen multimedia system. Both, old 4.3-inch as well as new 8-inch units will continue to power the same 6 speakers in the cabin.

This update is issued as smaller models of Hyundai India already enjoy such facilities and it would be disheartening to see the company’s flagship product missing out on those. Further, this helps push automatic variants of the slow-selling SUV.

There are no other enhancements on the 2015 model of Hyundai Santa Fe. The SUV continues to be powered by the 2.2 litre 4-cylinder CRDi diesel engine that generates 197 PS max power and 429 Nm peak torque, mated to 6-speed manual and automatic transmission systems. The variant with manual gearbox gets only 2WD drive system, while AT trim level gets the option of All Wheel Drive as well. Interestingly, the auto version gets extra reserve of torque from the same engine, which sums up to 449 Nm.

This is not a facelift update, that would be launched next year.
