2015 Mercedes Benz S65 AMG beats competition with V12: Photos and Video

Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG (V 222) 2013

Mercedes Benz has just revealed the all new S65 AMG. Powered by a 6.0l V12 generating 630 hp at 4800-5400 rpm and 1000 Nm torque at 2300-4300 rpm, the new Mercedes luxury sedan is a class apart when it comes to competition in the form of BMW Alpina B7, Audi S8, Maserati Quattroporte, or Jaguar XJR.

Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG (V 222) 2013Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 kmph) and if you remove the limit, the monster does a top speed of 220 mph (332 kmph). It does a 0-100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds, thanks to AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC. And while you are reading this, it is also important to know that the car weighs about 2.3 tonnes.

Compared to the less powerful S63 AMG, S65 AMG features 20 kgs less overall weight. Mercedes S65 AMG spec sheet does not reveal a 4Matic all wheel drive like in the case of S63 AMG, which implies the super luxury sedan to be rear wheel driven. Tyre size: front: 8.5 x 20, rear: 9.5 x 20, tyre sizes 255/40 R 20 and 285/35 R 20.

The 6.0l bi-turbo pits the new S65 AMG in the league of Bentley and Rolls Royce, and considering that the latter two are tuned more for luxury compared to performance, the case is opposite in the case of new Mercedes Benz. To be unveiled publicly at the LA Auto Show later this month, launch of S65 AMG will take place in March 2014, with deliveries set to commence in 2nd quarter. Price in Germany starts from €232,050 ($311,233 or INR 1.95 crores). For more information, scroll through the press release below.
