2015 Mercedes CLA sedan gets new features and engine update

2015-Mercedes-CLA2015 Mercedes Benz CLA has been reveal with new features. Highlight in safety features added include Collision Prevention Assist Plus with added autonomous partial braking to reduce risk of rear end collision. A warning light on instrument cluster flashes on driver failing to react in time which will be followed by an intermittent audible sound followed by partial braking.

Attention Assist system has also been upgraded to operate in an extended speed range between 60-200 kmph with a five stage bar display to gauge driver attention levels. Traffic Sign Assist will recognize traffic signs while it will also alert drivers taking a wrong turn.

Comfort features on board the new 2015 CLA are also augmented to include Keyless Go making it possible to open, start and lock the vehicle just by having the electronic key in one’s possession. Infotainment will come in the form of a free standing display measuring 20.3 cms while Mercedes ConnectMe services will be offered as standard. Convenience Telephony connects to high speed LTE networks (not in India) while Media Interface enables the connection of Apple devices via Apple Lighting interface.

Power and performance of the 2015 Mercedes Benz CLA is also augmented as the CLA 220 CDI now comes in with added power of 5 kW (6.7 hp), delivering total 177 hp and 350 Nm torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in 8.2 seconds while top speed is pegged at 232 kmph and auto emissions stand at only 104 g of CO2/km. The entry level CLA 180 CDI now emits lesser CO2 – 99 gms / km.

Once launched in India at an expected price range about INR 25 lakhs, the new CLA will compete with recently launched Audi A3.
