2015 Mercedes S Class Coupe, the two-door derivative of what is also known as the world’s best car – S Class, launches in India on July 30, 2015. It will be launched in two options, S 500 and S 63 AMG.
Though the design of S Class coupe has been inspired from the S Class, both cars are visibly different. Where the S Class sedan looks all elegant and classy, the Coupe is a more youthful looking variant, with the same amount of elegance and class on offer.
Both S Class Coupe variants will be launched in India as a CBU. First unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the two door S 500 will be powered by a 4.7 liter, twin turbo, V8 engine offering 453 bhp peak power and 700 Nm peak torque. This is the same engine which also does duty on the S 500 sedan (four door).
Mercedes S 63 AMG CoupeOn the other hand, the performance oriented S 63 AMG Coupe, which was first unveiled at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, is powered by a 5.5 liter, twin turbo, AMG V8 engine offering 577 bhp peak power and 900 Nm peak torque. Engine is mated to a 7 speed AMG Speedshift transmission. It can be configured with rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. With rear wheel drive, the S 63 AMG can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.2 seconds while with all wheel drive the same is achieved in 3.9 seconds. Both variants have a top speed of 250 kmph.
2015 Mercedes S Class CoupeApart from the two new S Class variants, Mercedes Benz India will also launch G63 AMG with a new exterior paint shades. All three cars will be launched on the same date, marking the first time that the company will be launching three products on a single day. This is a part of the ‘Mercedes Benz 15 in 15’ policy wherein the company plans 15 new launches during 2015 and aims to end the year as the largest luxury car manufacturer in India.
