2015 Shelby GT350R Mustang job one

Has a combined EPA mileage of 16 mpg (6.77 kmpl).

First example of the most hardcore Ford Mustang yet has just rolled off the assembly line at the automaker’s Flat Rock plant in the US. 2015 Shelby GT350R Mustang and its relatively civilized GT350 sibling are the road going flagship models in the iconic nameplate’s current lineup.

Talking at the roll out, Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, said:

This is a special day for all Mustang enthusiasts. We have taken the GT350 formula to the next level of innovation, style and performance. Today the legend continues.

Shelby GT350R and GT350 are powered by a 5.2-litre V8 petrol engine with flat plane crank. The motor dishes out a brutal 526 hp and 581 Nm of torque. The outputs are directed to the rear wheels via a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and a Ford tuned limited slip differential from Torsen.

Ford hasn’t revealed the performance credentials of its spruced up pony car duo but has announced that both have a combined EPA fuel economy figure of 16 miles per gallon (6.77 kmpl).

The lighter 2015 Shelby GT350R Mustang with fully stripped trims has a starting price of USD 61,295 (around INR 40.57 lakhs) while the saner GT350 variant has its price starting from USD 47,795 (around INR 31.63 lakhs). The prices don’t include destination charges of USD 900 and US Gas Guzzler tax of USD 1,300.
