Technical specifications of 2015 Volvo XC90 for India have already been detailed. Measuring 4,950mm in length, 1,923mm in width and 1,776 mm in height, 2015 Volvo XC90 luxury SUV based on Volvo’s Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA), will sit on a wheelbase measuring 2,984mm. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine offering 225 hp peak power and 470 Nm peak torque mated to an 8 speed automatic gearbox while an AWD system will also be available.
To be offered in two trims – Momentum and Inscription, it will be Inscription trim that will make an entry initially and to be followed by the Momentum trim later this year.
2015 Volvo XC90 Momentum variant will be seen with a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, electrically adjustable driver seat, folding third row back rests and rain sensing wipers. Momentum trim will also receive LED headlamps, Parking Assist and Hill Descent Control while infotainment will be in the form of a 12.3 inch screen and 19 speaker Bowers & Wilkins music system. Interiors will receive Nappa leather upholstery while front seats will be heated and ventilated.
A petrol engine variant is also expected to be launched later, sometime in early 2016 along with top of the line T8 plug-in hybrid. No indications on pricing as yet, but as new XC90 will be launched as a CBU, expect a price tag in the range of 90-95 lakhs. It will compete with the likes of Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes GL Class. At the unveil on 12th, Volvo India is expected to announce the opening of bookings for XC90, as deliveries are planned to start by September 2015.
