2016 Audi Q7 to get new 3D Sound System: First trailer revealed

Audi has highlighted a new 3D sound system that will make its presence felt on 2015 Q7. A notable feature on this new state of the art sound system is that it will use a complex algorithm to calculate and recreate the environment that a song was sung in. The new 3D sound system will not only set a new level of in-car listening pleasure but will also give listeners the same experience as if they were listening to the music live.

2016 Audi Q7 music system
New Audi Q7 is the most advanced Audi SUV till date. It is 325 kgs lighter and 26% more fuel efficient as compared to existing Q7.

Audi has developed the new 3D sound system for Bang & Olufsen in association with Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Erlangen. The system plays components of music through 11 different channels routed through 23 speakers in two stages. In the first stage the software breaks down data for music source into spatial components much in the same way as when an artist is singing on stage while floor, ceiling and walls in the concert hall rebound sounds at varying intervals a few milliseconds apart.

These varying sonic reflections allow the algorithm to calculate mathematical model of the recording room irrespective of the audio signal being recorded in mono, stereo or 5.1 surround sound. In the second stage, sound portions are reassembled so that sound patterns within the car cabin correspond with the original recording room. 3D sound will soon be going into production giving the listener the experience of spatial height, with third dimension allowing for an enhanced acoustic impression.
