2016 Bajaj Avenger spied on road

2016 Bajaj Avenger Cruiser has been spied testing on the road by Team-BHP member Sudeep_Kimster. Compared to the variant which was spied last week at a workshop in Goa, the one which is spied, is slightly different.

This is because Bajaj will launch the new Avenger in at least two trims – Cruiser and Sportster. The one which is spied on road is the Cruiser variant, developed for long touring on highways. On the other hand, Bajaj Avenger Sportster (the one which was spied last week), is a developed for city riding.

Bajaj Avenger Cruiser features wind deflector in the front, raised handlebar (like the RE Thunderbird) for a relaxed seating position during long rides, bigger back support for pillion, silver leg guard, and a lot of chrome.

On the other hand, the Bajaj Avenger Sportster is a dark themed motorcycle, probably inspired by Harley Davidson Street 750. It features black suspension forks, matte finish on the fuel tank, decals like the new RS 200 Fear the Black Edition, lower back support for pillion, black alloys, black leg guard, and lowered handlebar in matte black.

Basic design of the two variants – Cruiser and Sportster remains same, but the two will be visibly different from each other.

The new-age Bajaj Avenger is all set to be launched in India either later this week, or next week. Expect the Bajaj Avenger Cruiser to be powered by the 220 cc air cooled single cylinder engine, which does duty on current Avenger. This engine is rated to deliver 19.03 PS and 17.5 Nm torque.

On the other hand, the dark themed Bajaj Avenger Sportster is expected to get the new 200 cc oil cooled engine which does duty on the new AS 200. This engine is rated at 23.5 PS and 18.3 Nm.

We expect the price of Bajaj Avenger Cruiser to start in the range of INR 82k, and that of the Bajaj Avenger Sportster to start in the range of INR 92k.
