New BMW 3 Series 330i petrol launched in India – Price INR 42.4 lakh

BMW India had discontinued their petrol variants in the past few years, due to a wide gap in petrol and diesel prices. But with the gap decreasing, there is a sharp increase in those who want to buy a petrol car. This is the reason BMW India has re-launched the petrol version of 3 Series.

Today, BMW India announced the launch of two petrol variants – 330i Sport Line and 330i M Sport Edition; priced respectively at INR 42.4 lakh and INR 44.9 lakh, ex-showroom. The four diesel trims continue to be on sale as is.

Both these petrol variants are powered by the same engine – 2.0 liter twin turbo 4 cylinder engine. Mated to a 8 speed auto transmission, this engine delivers a peak power of 252 hp at 5200 rpm and peak torque of 350 Nm at 1450-4800 rpm. It has a top speed of 250 kmph and does a 0-100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds.

BMW has promised several new launches in India and the updated 3er petrol trim is one of them. Visually, the Mecedes C Class rival receives minor revisions such as a revised front bumper with wider air intake and LED headlamps (available on select variants). The rear bumper is re-profiled in addition to new LED lights. Interior is more or less left untouched. BMW claims that the suspension is stiffened and steering system has been sharpened for the new 3 Series.

The popular 320d variant with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine will continue to be the prime model for India. The engine features improved turbocharger for better response and tweaked 8-speed automatic transmission for better efficiency.

With its 3 Series, BMW India would be looking to take on the renewed competition from Mercedes C Class, Volvo S60 along with the next gen Audi A4 and Jaguar XE.
