Next-gen BMW 7-Series is slated for world premiere later this year, probably at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show come September.

In a quick glance, one would notice nothing but a plain old multi-dial arrangement with needles pointing at etched numbers. But, the new version of flagship Bimmer sedan sports a semi-digital or semi-analog instrument cluster, which has most of the numbers written permanently, some goes off while pulling the key out.

This analog-digital hybrid instrument cluster indeed houses conventional dial gauges, but the space between the speedo and tacho clocks is utilised for Multi Function Display which eats into the circumference of the dials on either side. So, to preserve the gauges’ readings, the centre screen displays the numbers above 210 kmph and below 1,500 rpm (respective to the instruments) whenever necessary.
