2016 BMW 7 Series teased ahead of India launch
The luxury car makers are already upbeat about the new year and are raring to get off the mark at the earliest. Following Mercedes-Benz India’s announcement of GLE 450 AMG Coupe launch on January 12, rival BMW India has teased the 2016 7 Series via an image. Without directly mentioning 2016 BMW 7 Series, the teaser image simply carries the hashtag BMWLaserLight with words “Coming Soon in 2016.”
The flagship luxury sedan is packed with many new features with an aim to setting a new benchmark for technology. We expect the India-spec version to come with all the bells and whistles including the swanky key fob with touchscreen, remote control parking, Laser headlights, Touch Command infotainment system, Sky Lounge panoramic roof, Bowers and Wilkins surround system and a never ending list of safety and assistance systems.
Based on a new platform the new 7er employs industrially produced CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic) along with steel and aluminium. As the result the car’s body is up to 130 kg lighter than its predecessor. The 2016 7 Series sedan is equipped with an air suspension with automatic self leveling and Dynamic Damper Control.

Powertrain lineup comprises a new family of efficient inline 6-cylinder petrol and diesel engines mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission. The range topping V8 petrol engine is has been carried over but not without heavy improvement. We expect the 2017 BMW 7 Series to be assembled at the company’s Chennai plant like its predecessor.
