2016 Chevrolet Volt at NAIAS, goes on sale in 2015
Chevrolet unveiled its all new 2016 Volt electric car which is seen with a host of improvements over its predecessor. 243 pounds lighter due to a new design LG Chem battery pack, the battery offers an electric only range extended from 38 miles to 50 miles. This allows Volt owners to complete more than 80% of their trips without the use of any gasoline whatsoever.
Volt also sees this new battery pack situated in a better position, lower in the vehicle so as to make room for one more seat at the rear. 2016 Volt also boasts of new interiors, better sculpted exteriors and improved functionality. Charging of batteries and checking current status is achieved through instrument panel controls while ‘Regen on Demand’ allows drivers to control energy regeneration via a paddle situated at the rear of the steering wheel.
It is the stronger body structure of the new Volt that offers a quieter ride while the five-passenger seating is offered with rear heated seats. Interiors are seen with quality material and new colors adding a more premium look to the Volt while controls are better located so as to make operation simpler. Safety features on board the 2016 Volt electric car will include standard rear vision camera, ten standard airbags which also includes driver and front passenger knee airbags besides lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, side blind zone alert, lane change alert, rear cross traffic alert and forward collision alert.
