2016 Ford Figo hatchback is getting ready to launch in India towards the end of this month or early next month, says a report in ET Auto. The B-segment hatchback will be the second model to be produced at the firm’s new Sanand plant, the first being Figo Aspire compact sedan.
Figo hatchback shares its design with the sub-4 metre sedan inside out. Aspire’s stubby third box makes way for a sporty rear fascia with a raked windshield, a character line connecting large taillights and a sculpted bumper.
Interior design too is identical but the hatchback settles for a full black color theme as against the sedan’s dual-tone beige appointments. Equipment level will also be common and highlights include SYNC 2.0 multimedia infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel, automatic climate control, dual front airbags (Titanium + could offer 6 airbags), ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensor, alloy wheels, fog lights, etc.
The 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine which puts out 88 PS and the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine which has an impressive 100 PS on store would be inherited from Aspire but it remains to be seen whether Ford will offer the 1.5-litre petrol/6-speed PoweShift automatic combo in the hatchback or not.
Ford is betting big on 2016 Figo to recreate the original car’s magic. With Figo twins complementing EcoSport in sales, the company would be poised to grow at a promising rate.
