Launched in Indonesia earlier this month, the new 2016 Honda CBR150R had created quite a buzz among fans in India who were hoping for the bike to be launched in India. But, sadly for those of us who had high hopes have will now have to live with the fact that the CBR150R is not coming to India. Along with the CBR150R, the CBR250R facelift is also not going to be launched in India.
In an interview with BikeAdvice, Mr YS Guleria, Senior Vice President, Honda India revealed that India will not get facelifted CBR150R, CBR250R and the new CBR300R.
He also added that there are no plans of any new bike getting launched in India from Honda in the sub 500 cc segment, thereby quashing the launch of Honda CBR500R as well.
Honda India is focusing on the entry level segment where there is more demand and thereby more growth numbers. This will help the company achieve their long term goal of replacing Hero MotoCorp as the largest two-wheeler manufacturers in the world.
HMSI introduced Honda CBR250R in India in back March 2011 while Honda CBR150R was launched in 2012. Ever since their launch, apart from getting subtle facelifts in the form of new decals or stickers, there has been no upgrades. While in the international markets, these two bikes have received thorough upgrades in the form of refreshed styling, improved engine performance, new lighter chassis which has helped in improving riding dynamics and much more.
