The new-gen model is based on the latest Civic’s platform.

The 2018 Honda CR-V which was spotted testing a few weeks ago has been envisioned through a f speculative rendering created by a vehicle design student named Po Yuan Huang. The renderings are based on the spy shots and hence appear to have captured the next gen model’s final design with reasonable accuracy.

The new premium crossover gets a bolder front fascia with a large hexagonal grille that blends into the sleek headlamps with integrated daytime LED running lights. Larger wheels, flared wheel arches, a more expressive sheet metal design render a sporty stance. The new CR-V is likely to do away with its signature wedge-shaped rear fascia in favor of a more upright design. The L-Shaped rear combination lights are expected to employ LED elements.

Current gen CR-V for your reference.

Based on the new gen Civic‘s platform, the 2018 CR-V will be slightly larger than the outgoing model with a longer wheelbase. This should ease up more cabin space. There are also rumors that Honda could offer a longer derivative with 7 seats.

The 1.5L turbo petrol engine is expected to be derived from the new Civic.

The popular crossover is expected to borrow the Civic’s 1.5-litre turbocharged i-VTEC petrol motor. CVT is most likely to be the transmission option. The 1.6-litre EarthDreams i-DTEC diesel engine mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox is likely to continue as the preferred powertrain option for the European markets.
