South Korean automaker has advanced the launch of new Hyundai Creta by a couple of months to take advantage of festive season (September – October) in the country.
The move was confirmed by Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice President, sales and marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL). He added that such an advancement of launch helped Grand i10 to take advantage of festive season and same is expected from Creta as well.
First launched in China under the ix25 nameplate, the compact crossover SUV adopts Hyundai’s modern design language inside out. At 4.27 m, the vehicle doesn’t qualify for Indian sub-4 metre norm but a heavily localization of over 90% in India should keep the costs competitive.
2016 Hyundai Creta would borrow its powertrain lineup from Verna 4S which means 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel motors, mated to manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer. Only FWD variants are expected to be sold in India.
With cross-hairs trained at fellow compact crossovers like Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Maruti S-Cross, Creta will offer myriad of features not the least of which are multiple airbags, ABS, EBD, touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, foglamps, alloywheels, LED daytime running lights and so on.
With an estimated price range of INR 8 – 12 lakhs, 2016 Hyundai Creta caters to a burgeoning segment and is expected to be an important volume spinner for HMIL in the coming years.
