As Hyundai India is gearing up to launch its first compact crossover this festive season, the vehicle in question has been spotted testing without camouflage for the first time.

2016 Hyundai Creta‘s latest spyshots reveal the India-spec design completely. Though it was reported that Creta would incorporate a few design changes compared to China-spec ix25, the front fascia of the vehicles are identical with three chrome-slated grille, sophisticated headlamp design with projector elements with silver accents and quadrilateral foglamps.

Hyundai’s compact crossover is heavily localized in India to arrive at competitive pricing.

In profile too, there are no significant visual differences between international (Creta) and Chinese versions. The prototype spotted recently gets silver colored window visors which are likely to be accessories. The alloy wheel design is new.

Only difference in the rear fascia comes in the form of a chrome strip above the license plate enclosure in Creta. The wraparound taillights, roof-mounted spoiler, diffuser and pseudo air intakes on the bumper are common to both versions.

Going by the official interior sketch released by Hyundai India, it’s safe to assume that interior too will be derived from ix25 albeit new color themes (akin to Grand i10) would be adopted.

Visually, 2016 Hyundai Creta is pretty much identical to its Chinese sibling (ix25).

With powertrain lineup derived from Hyundai Verna (1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines), Creta would be available in several variants. Hyundai India has achieved a localization of over 90% for Creta in order to attain a competitive pricing.

2016 Creta will be Hyundai’s significant volume spinner which will look to trounce Renault Duster.
