The 2016 Hyundai Tucson which made its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016 will be launched on the 24th October 2016. The premium crossover will be positioned between the Creta and Santa Fe.
The first generation of the SUV didn’t quite manage to create an impact in India but the third gen model with modern design and rich equipment list is hoping to have a better chance with the SUV loving Indian customers. The latest iteration is characterized by a hexagonal grille, peeled back headlamps with projector elements, bumper-mounted LED daytime running lights, expressive sheet metal design and high-mounted LED taillights.
The upmarket interior gets a touchscreen infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel, automatic climate control, multiple airbags, and so on. The 5-seater is packed with a comprehensive suite of safety features.
The crossover is expected to be available in both petrol and diesel avatars. The petrol engine of choice is expected to be the 1.4-litre turbocharged unit which is mated to a dual-clutch transmission. Diesel lineup in the international market includes 114 PS 1.7-litre and 182 PS 2.0-litre units. In India, the new Tucson is most likely to be offered with 2.0 liter diesel engine option in two tunes – 134 hp and 181 hp. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT.
The 2016 Hyundai Tucson will be pitted against the likes of Skoda Yeti, Honda CR-V and the upcoming Jeep C-SUV.
