Spied in Telangana, the Mahindra Genio facelift is ready for launch. To be offered in double cab and single cab variants, the Genio facelift was seen in a complete new design.
Despite being based on the Mahindra Xylo MPV, the two bore no similarity. Mahindra Genio facelift receives sharp front design with a new front grille with silver accents and new headlamps giving the façade an aggressive stance. The bonnet is also new and is noted to sit flatter as compared to the slanting bonnet on its current model.
Apart from this, there is a choice of new colours, one of which is the Blue shade you see in the image above. The existing Genio is offered in only white, brown and silver.
Powering the Mahindra Genio facelift in India is a 2.5 liter mDI CRDe engine offering 75 bhp peak power and 220 Nm peak torque. Export markets will receive the Genio facelift powered by a 2.2 liter diesel engine offering 120 bhp power and 280 Nm torque while two and four wheel drive options will also be presented in overseas markets unlike in India where only the 2 wheel drive option will be available. The Genio in export markets will also receive a more powerful mHawk diesel engine.
Details of interiors of the new Mahindra Genio facelift are scarce but judging from its earlier variants, space should be at a premium while safety features presented on the new Genio should include features such as ABS and dual airbags. Better cushioning and plastics on dashboard are also expected while infotainment system could be upgraded with Mahindra’s BlueSense application.
Mahindra and Mahindra will probably take the new Mahidnra Genio facelift to the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo where the company will also be displaying the SsangYong Tivoli compact SUV.
