2016 Mahindra Genio pickup with new face spied


2016 Mahindra Genio facelift is based on the Ingenio platform on which Mahindra Xylo MPV is also based.

Spied on test on public roads, and set for unveiling at the 2016 Auto Expo in February next year, various details of the 2016 Mahindra Genio facelift have been revealed. It gets a redesigned front fascia while engine upgrades are also estimated. The refreshed Genio is expected to come in single cab and double cab variants while interiors should sport better quality material.

Exteriors of the 2016 Mahindra Genio facelift seen testing receive sleeker headlamps with integrated circular fog lamps. As noted on the model on test, the Mahindra Genio gets a new signature grill and bonnet while front bumper also gets restyled with a wider airdam. The side profile and rear continue to look the same as seen on its earlier counterpart while at the rear, tail lamp and loading bay also continue with the same design from the outgoing Mahindra Genio.

2016 Mahindra Genio will be powered by the same 2.5 liter four cylinder diesel engine capable of 75 bhp peak power and 220 Nm peak torque mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The export model however will receive a 2.2 liter mHawk diesel engine producing 120 bhp power and 280 Nm torque. Global markets are also set to receive a 4×4 variant of the Mahindra Genio facelift while in India, Mahindra will be selling it in a 2WD only.

Besides the new Mahindra Genio facelift, Mahindra is also on many more models. These include the upcoming TUV100 compact SUV, Quanto facelift, e2o four door, Verito electric, etc. Most of their upcoming models will be on display at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
