Set to be brought into India as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit), 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible could be priced from INR 35 lakhs. It is built on a new UKL platform and will see increased dimensions.
Measuring 3,821mm in length, 1,727mm in width and 1,415mm in height, dimensions as compared to its predecessor have grown by 98mm, 44mm and 1 mm respectively. The new Cooper Convertible also sits on a 42mm wider track in front and 34mm wider track at the rear while the wheelbase has been increased by 28mm. Increased chassis strength has seen an increase in overall weight by 120 kgs while the soft top opens and shuts at 30 kmph in a matter of 18 seconds.
Engine options on the three-door soft top convertible 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible in India could include a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder petrol engine capable of 133.9 bhp peak power and a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder diesel engine offering 115.9 bhp power. Each of these engines will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Continuing with its retro classic stance, the new Mini Cooper Convertible will be seen with round LED DRLs and a signature chrome grille besides chrome accents on tail lamps. Cabin space will be at a premium while interiors will be seen in cloth/leather combination with a host of passenger conveniences and a number of safety features.
