Price of the new MINI Convertible starts from £18,475 in the UK. It will go on sale once sales commence later this year.
Revealed a few days ago via official images, the new 2016 MINI Cooper Convertible made its debut in front of public at the ongoing 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
The open top four seater 2016 MINI Cooper Convertible promises sportiness, comfort, safety and performance. Fashioned out of choicest material, interiors boast of a horizontal cockpit with circular displays. Air vents and door trims are offered in quality color and material combinations while its instrument console boasts of new functions.
Exteriors see circular headlamps and rear lights with chrome surrounds while front radiator grille is in a hexagonal shape. Its soft top sports a fully automatic opening and closing mechanism besides sliding roof function capable of opening the soft top and side windows in 18 seconds. You can close / open the soft top even on the move, while speeds of upto 50 kmph.
To sport similar engine lineup as seen on its Hardtop and Clubman counterparts, the new MINI Cooper Convertible will be offered with three engine options, all with same transmission option. The base model gets a 1.5 liter petrol three cylinder engine generating 134 hp power and 230 Nm torque. Offered in a choice of 6 speed manual and 6 speed steptronic automatic transmission, it does 0-100 kmph in 8.8 seconds and 8.7 seconds respectively. Top speed is 208 kmph for the manual variant while the automatic variant has a top speed of 206 kmph. Price starts from £18,475.
The more powerful petrol option is on offer with the S trim. This one gets a 2.0 liter turbo four cylinder engine which generates 190 hp and 300 Nm torque. The S trim does 0-100 in 7.2 seconds for manual and 7.1 seconds for the automatic. Top speed is rated at 230 kmph for manual and 228 kmph for automatic. Price starts from £22,430.
The third option on offer is a 1.5 liter three cylinder diesel engine. It offers 114 hp power and 270 Nm torque. It does 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds and has a top speed of 195 kmph. Price starts from £20,225.
