2016 Renault Megane detailed, global launch to follow early next year

2016 Renault Megane five door hatchback is set for launch to take over from current 7 year old, third generation model which got a facelift in 2014.

2016 Renault Megane is set for launch sometime in early 2016. Showcased earlier at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year, the new Megane hatchback now measures 4,359mm in length and 1,447mm in height. It will thus be 64mm longer and 25mm lower than its predecessor while wheelbase has been extended by 28mm.

As per markets, where the new hatchback will be launched, 2016 Renault Megane will receive four petrol and five diesel engine options to include TCe 100, SCe 115, TCe 130 and TCe 205 petrol engines and dCi 90, dCi 110, dCi 130 and dCi 165 diesel engines.

External updates see a bold style dominated by Renault diamond logo on front grille, a new front bumper and chrome accents on windows. 2016 Megane sits on 18” alloy wheels and gets trapezoidal exhaust pipes besides a sporty rear roof spoiler. The rear will also be seen with LED clusters and Renault badge on tailgate.

Interiors of 2016 Renault Megane seen in Napa leather with chrome accents is dominated by space and technology. Spacious with ample leg and shoulder room the new Megane gets a portrait oriented central touchscreen controlling the R-LINK 2 infotainment system. Safety on board the new Megane will be in the form of adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, traffic sign congestion, automatic emergency braking and blindspot monitoring.

To go on sale across the UK from early 2016 the new Renault Megane will rival the likes of the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, SEAT Leon and new Vauxhall Astra. No prices have been announced as on date but estimates put the 2016 Renault Megane in a price bracket starting from £18,000 (US$ 27,055/INR 18,07,949).
