2016 Skoda Superb will be based on the MQB platform and promises to be more spacious with better connectivity and infotainment features.
Skoda has completed final testing of the new Superb and it will be ready for public debut in Europe by March 2015. Skoda claims that 2016 Superb will excel where in-car infotainment, connectivity, comfort and performance is concerned. Apart from this, it will be fuel efficient, eco-friendly and safer as compared to the current Superb.
From the new images revealed, it can be seen that the cars will sport a new design language evolved from VisionC concept, which premiered earlier this year at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
A new set of leaked images from Auto Forum and Auto Bild, reveals the interior. Highlights include a larger screen, the instrument cluster is different, steering wheel remains very similar to existing Superb, dashboard air vents have new design, and rear AC vents shape is revised. Apart from this, interior space will continue to remain at a premium on board the 2015 Skoda Superb while boot space will also be enhanced as compared to that seen on its current model.
Engine specs to be seen on board the new Skoda Superb will include a pair of petrol and diesel engines. The diesel engine is expected to be a 2.0 liter TDI while its petrol counterpart could be a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine for the Indian market. A hybrid model could also be introduced for international markets.
To make its world premiere in February in Prague, the 2016 Skoda Superb is planned for launch in India sometime by the end of 2015 or early 2016 where it will compete with the likes of VW Passat, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
In India, the current Skoda Superb is assembled at the company’s plant in Aurangabad which is shared with Audi India. It is from here that the 2016 Skoda Superb will also be assembled when it is launched in India at an expected price between INR 20-25 lakhs.
