2016 Suzuki GSX S1000 and S1000F launched in India (Update)

UPDATE 18th May 2015: Today, Suzuki Motorcycles India announced the launch of GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F, with a starting price of Rs 12.25 lakhs and Rs 12.75 lakhs respectively (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

8th April 2015: 2016 Suzuki GSX S1000 and GSX S1000F are slated for global launch sometime in June this year. At the launch of new Gixxer SF in New Delhi yesterday, Suzuki Motorcycle India confirmed plans to simultaneously launch these two sportsbikes in India as well.

 2016 Suzuki GSX S1000

Built on a new twin spar aluminium framework, the new GSX S1000 and S1000F are inspired by Suzuki GSX R1000. GSX S1000 is a naked sports bike, while GSX S1000F is a fully faired version of the same machine. Both share the engine and main components with GSX R1000, which is amongst the few motorcycles in the world to feature in the list of fastest to finish quarter mile (10.03 seconds) and fastest to reach 100 kmph (2.8 seconds).

Both Suzuki GSX S1000 and S1000F will measure 2,115mm in length, 795mm in width and 1,080mm in height while ground clearance will stand at 140mm and seat height at 815mm. Engines is a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline-Four engine of 999cc displacement. It delivers peak power of 145 hp at 9,500 rpm (unofficial).

Thanks to Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve system, appropriate fuel mixture is possible while cylinders are fed by 10 hold injectors. Iridium spark plugs allow for better combustion and power can be altered by three rider selectable traction control settings.

Built on a new twin spar aluminium framework, the upcoming Suzuki superbikes boast of KYB inverted fork and fully adjustable link type shocks, six spoke wheels in cast aluminium with 120/70-ZR17 (front) and 190/50-ZR17 (rear) Dunlop tires. Braking is enhanced due to radial mounted Brembo monoblock calipers while the ABS model will receive Bosch ABS system.

 2016 Suzuki GSX S1000F

2016 Suzuki GSX S1000 and S1000F will have a host of onboard features to include an LCD instrument cluster with speedometer, tachometer, odometer and water temperature gauge besides dual trip meter, clock and gear position indicator. Both will have tank capacity of 17 liters and will be launched in colour options that include Metallic Triton Blue, Glass Sparkle Black / Candy Daring Red and Metallic Matte Fibroin Gray.

With the launch of Suzuki GSX S1000 and S1000F, Suzuki Motorcycle India superbikes portfolio will increase to 10. They currently offer – GSX R1000 ABS, V-Strom, Hayabusa, Hayabusa Z, Bandit 1250 SA, Intruder M1800R, Intruder M1800R (B.O.S.S.), and Intruder M800. Last year, the company sold a total of 800 units of superbikes in India. This fiscal, with the launch of GSX S1000 and S1000F, they hope to achieve sales of 400 units.

Once launched, the new GSX S1000 will compete with the likes of Kawasaki Z1000, Triumphh Speed Triple, BMW S1000R, and Honda CB1000R; while, the GSX S1000F will compete with the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 1000, Honda CBR1000RR and BMW S1000RR.
