At a glittering event in Thailand, Toyota Motors officially revealed the new generation Fortuner SUV in front of local and international media.

New 2016 Toyota Fortuner receives a host of updates both in terms of looks and equipment.

2016 Toyota Fortuner interiors will boast of a new leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters. The steering wheel gets buttons for attending to phone calls, adjustment of music volume and accessing the MID which receives a large LCD screen.

The cabin is more spacious than its current model and sports a new instrument cluster and utility space for storage of mobile phone and magazines. Done up in beige and black, the interiors has a more contemporary appeal and is packed with safety features including ABS, EBD, VSM, ESC, HAC and Brake Assist.

The exteriors of 2016 Toyota Fortuner will receive six new color options, tail lamp clusters with LED elements and dual projector headlights. The 7-seat SUV sits on diamond cut 18” alloy wheels and gets reflectors on both bumper and a rear wiper.

Engine specifications on the 2016 Toyota Fortuner will include 2.4 liter and 2.8 liter four cylinder diesel engines and a 2.7 liter VVT-I petrol engine. The 2.4 liter diesel offers 150 PS power and 323 Nm torque while the 2.8 liter engine offers 179.4 PS power and 450 Nm torque mated to 6 speed manual and automatic transmissions. The petrol engine is carried forward from its predecessor but all engines have improved fuel efficiency, by up to 10 percent.

To go on sale in Thailand and Australia later this year, Launch in India is scheduled for the next calendar year. Official price is not revealed yet, expect new Fortuner to be priced in the range of Rs 23-30 lakhs.
