An interesting short film of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been released to promote the premium SUV in Australia. The video features a narration by a person with quintessential Australian accent and shows the new Fortuner taking on some of the toughest terrains the nation has to offer.
Based on the new Hilux Revo pickup truck platform, the ladder frame 7-seat SUV will rely on its abilities off the road to lure customers away from the modern day crossovers. As seen in the video, the Fortuner doesn’t shy away from a challenge, thanks to its impressive ground clearance, wheel articulation, 4×4 system with low transfer case, and steep approach and departure angles.
The 2016 Fortuner is powered by a set of one petrol and two new downsized diesel engines. The base diesel motor is a 2.4-litre unit which is capable of 150 PS and 400 Nm of torque. The range-topping oil burner is a 2.8-litre mill which develops 177 PS and 450 Nm of torque. The 2.7-litre petrol engine is good for 166 PS and 245 Nm of torque. 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes constitute the transmission lineup. Both 4×4 and RWD configurations are on offer.
The 2016 Toyota Fortuner gets upmarket futures such as touchscreen infotainment system, improved safety systems and many more. Launch in India is expected sometime next year. Competition will come from the Chevrolet Trailblazer and new Ford Endeavour.
