First launched in 2004, Toyota Innova is a family sized MPV which is currently the best selling car in its class in India. Apart from India, Innova is also very much in demand countries like Indonesia, which is where the second generation is set to make global debut on 23rd November, 2015.
Measuring 4735 mm in length, 1830 mm in width, 1795 mm in width, with a wheelbase of 2750 mm, new generation Innova is lighter, powerful, efficient and more agile than the outgoing Innova.
New Toyota Innova will first be launched in Indonesia. Here, it will be offered with the new Toyota GD 2.4 liter four cylinder engine generating 149 PS power and 360 Nm torque. Transmission options on offer will be six speed AT and five speed MT.
Leaked brochure confirms that the new Innova will will be offered in three trims – G, V and Q. All three variants get three airbags (driver knee + dual front), ABS and EBD as standard. Other safety features on offer with top-end trim includes curtain airbags, anti-theft system, rear parking sensors, VSC, and HAC.
Other features on offer with new Innova includes new hexagonal grille, swept back aerodynamic headlamps, angular foglights, wraparound taillamps, new 16 inch alloys, chrome inserts in the front and rear.
Interiors too get a fresh new look. They are now much more modern and appealing to younger set of buyers. Updates on the inside includes 7 inch advance entertainment system, USB, AUX, Voice recognition, Bluetooth, multi function steering wheel, auto climate control, wooden inserts on dash, dual tone colour theme and much more.
The new Innova is expected to be launched in India late 2016 or early 2017. Here, it will be produced locally. Toyota has plans to produce 90,000 units of Innova in India, for which the company has made new investments at their plant in Bidadi, Karnataka.
