2016 Toyota Prius with razor shape design elements has been photographed up close without any camouflage. The next gen version of the world’s first hybrid production car is scheduled to make its world premiere on September 8.
The front fascia is inspired by Mirai FCV and sports boomerang shaped projector headlamps, triangular fog lights, a slit of a grille carrying blue Toyota badge, a wider secondary air dam, sporty chin and a pronounced bulge on the bonnet.
In profile, the new gen hybrid car looks pretty much like its predecessor with an aerodynamic silhouette characterized by a smoothly arching roof line and short rear overhang. The fascia is just as loud and dramatic as the front with its massive taillights that flow all way down and an upright multi layered boot lid. Interior of the car is expected to be equally bold with an all-new design and added equipment.
Under the skin, 2016 Prius sits on new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform and would feature a more efficient hybrid powertrain system consisting of a 1.8-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. Combined output is expected to be in the vicinity of 150 PS and the car is reported to have an all-electric driving range of 35 miles (56 km) compared to the current model’s 11 miles (17.7 km).
More details will be released on the day of unveil.
