The new car is expected to be lighter than its predecessor by at least 100 kg.

A couple of teaser images of the 2017 Audi A5 (new-gen) has been revealed ahead of its world premiere which is scheduled on June 2. The Coupe features significant design and under-the-skin improvements.

The new gen Sportback adopts the brand’s latest design trend which is characterized by edgy elements, Matrix LED headlamps and the signature Sportback silhouette with muscular rear haunches. The first uncamouflaged spy shots of the car (Rushlane exclusive) revealed the instantly recognizable triangular LED taillights. The coupe is claimed to be more aerodynamic than its predecessor.

The new-gen car gets Matrix LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs.

The interior is expected to borrow several design cues from the new A4 which means higher variants will get the modern Audi Virtual Cockpit (configurable fully digital TFT instrument console) and a whole host of up-to-date driver assistance and safety features.

Based on the MLB Evo platform, the 2017 A5 will be benefiting from significant weight savings. The TFSI peetrol and TDI diesel engines (4- and 6-cylinder units) will also come from the new A4. The international markets will have both 6-speeed manual and 8-speed DSG automatic transmission options. India is likely to receive only the range-topping S5 model.
