BSIV Gurkha Xplorer launched, Force Motors – Rolls Royce JV announced

The project entails building a manufacturing facility that meets standards and specifications laid down by Rolls Royce. The new plant facility will be built at the Force Motors site in Chakan, Pune. The site is also used to manufacture the BSIV Gurkha Xplorer range.

The JV caters to production of complete power generation systems including associated spare parts for Indian, and global markets. Rolls Royce Power Systems customers include airlines, armed forces, naval forces, and power and nuclear customers. Rolls Royce supplies includes high speed engines and propulsion systems for ships, power generation, heavy land, rail and defense vehicles to customers in 150 countries.

Force Motors produces engines for Mercedes Benz and BMW. This JV with Rolls Royce opens up a new business opportunity with great growth potential. 4WD Force BSIV Gurkha Xplorer gets power from a new BS4 compliant 85hp FM 2.6 CR engine with flat peak torque of 230Nm from 1400 to 2400 rpm. Mated to a G-28 5-speed all-synchromesh gearbox with cable shift makes for effortless gear shifts.

Front suspension with coil spring on struts combined with multi-link with pan hard rod and coil springs in the rear facilitates mild / moderate off-roading with optimised handling and ride comfort on tarmac and off-road environs. The 3-door 5-seater Gurkha Xplorer is offered as a soft top or hard top.

The RWD 5-door hard top Gurkha Xpedition (D+8 seats) gets power from a 86hp/230 Nm FM 2.6 CR engine. With style cues from the Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen, new Force Gurkha maintains its appeal with a facelifted exterior. A new bold front facia, and front and rear steel bumpers make up design changes.

 BSIV variants widen the audience base of the popular off roader.

Standard features across variants: chrome finish air intake snorkel, muscular side cladding, attractive graphics, clear lens headlamps, front and rear fog lamps, large ORVMs, sturdy and full length slip resistant footboard, wider all terrain tubeless tyres.

BSIV Gurkha Xplorer and Gurkha Expedition are available in four colors – Supreme White, Matt Black, Copper Red, and Moonbeam Silver.
