86th edition of Geneva Motor Show will take place from March 3-13, 2016 wherein Fiat plans to unveil a newhatchback based on the Aegea sedan.

Fiat, the Italian automaker, has is reported to be working on two new variants of the Aegea sedan, which was showcased earlier this year.

The new generation hatchback will be lighter, more powerful and efficient.

Now, a new Fiat hatchback variant has been captured on camera, and it is believed that this is the hatchback variant built on the same platform as that of Fiat Aegea.

Though heavily camouflaged, a few exterior and interior features have been evident. Sporting body panels that are borrowed from the Linea sedan, the new Aegea hatchback grows in dimensions as compared to Punto hatchback. It is more akin to Fiat Bravo hatchback which is not on sale in India.

Fiat Aegea hatchback is based on the same platform as its saloon counterpart showcased at Istanbul Motor Show in May 2015.

Expected engine specifications to be seen on board Fiat Aegea hatchback could include two Multijet II diesel engines and two petrol engines, ranging in output from 95 PS to 120 PS.

Just like the sedan, Aegea hatchback will also be a global product.

Besides Fiat Aegea sedan and hatchback, there is also going to be a third body style in the form of a wagon. Each of these three will be produced from company’s Turkey plant. The sedan will go on sale first sometime in November 2015 while the hatchback and wagon variants will be launched in early 2016.

It is not yet officially confirmed that Fiat will be bringing the Fiat Aegea hatchback and sedan to India, but internal sources confirm that Fiat India has already started doing feasibility study to manufacture the Aegea range in India.
