Biker dad gifts 17 yr old son new KTM Duke 390 – This happened next

Time and again we have tried to explain readers the dangers of overspeeding on public roads, especially when you are in control of a powerful machine. Sadly, one more accident has taken place where a young rider lost his life while overspeeding.

A 17 year old teenager, Roshan Goudar from Hubli, Karnataka has lost life after he collided head-on with a bus while riding his KTM Duke 390 on a Independence Day ride along with fellow bikers.

As per eye-witness, the accident took place yesterday, 15th August when Roshan was out with fellow KTM riders on an Independence Day ride. As per the eye-witness, Roshan was part of the KTM Hubli ride organized for KTM owners on the occasion of Independence Day. The accident happened due to over speeding. Roshan entered a corner at a very high speed, and was not able to get back in his lane in time. He crashed head-on into the oncoming bus.

The impact was such that Roshan lied unconscious on the road. His fellow bikers and people on the road helped him to get to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

It was in May 2017 that Roshan’s dad, Raju R Goudar had gifted his son a brand new KTM Duke 390. Raju, a businessman based in Hubli, is also a biker who also owns Hayabusa, KTM RC 200 and a Bajaj Dominar. The new Duke 390 was registered in Raju’s name, but was bought as a gift to his son.

Sadly, this is not a one-off case. Cases of bike accidents due to overspeeding are on the rise in India. No, we are not saying that powerful bikes are the culprit. The culprit is human, almost everytime. Parents need to understand the fact that gifting their under-aged child such machines is not only harmful for them, but also for those on the road.

We need to understand the machine, before we can go full throttle. Unless we as bikers understand the importance of road safety and safe riding practice, it will be difficult to avoid such situations in the future.

Another Incident

Apart form the above incident, there was another incident a few weeks ago involving a KTM Duke 390 rider. 20 year old Nijil Raj was riding new KTM Duke 390 from college to home. Nijil was a 3rd Yr B. Com student in Nirmala College, Muvatupuzha, Kerela. Nijil was riding, while his friend Palazhi Jishnu (20) was pillion. Nijil was son of V. Vamananan (Anakkadu Service Co-operative Bank Incharge).

The Duke 390 Nijil was riding, reportedly belonged to his elder brother. The bike was purchased a week ago. With not much experience riding the Duke 390, Nijil was overspeeding on the single lane road near his college. Overspeeding, single lane, and on top of that roads were wet due to rains. To add to that, neither of them was wearing any safety gear, not even a helmet.

While overtaking a rickshaw, Nijil’s KTM Duke 390 collided with rickshaw head-on which was coming from the opposite direction. The impact was such that Nijil, Jishnu and the rickshaw driver (50 yr old Puthankuril Madhu) got severely injured. Soon the three were taken to a nearby hospital. Nijil succumbed to his injuries yesterday. Madhu, the auto driver succumbed to his injuries in the ICU today, while Jishnu is still critical in the ICU.

How it Happened?

The KTM Duke 390’s front has been completely damaged, and so that of the rickshaw’s. In fact, images show that the chassis of the rickshaw has been bent from the impact. If only the biker would have been riding within speed limit, the accident would have not taken place.
