The 2017 Mercedes E Class has been teased in a video ahead of its world premiere on January 11. The next gen luxury car completes the automaker’s updated mainstream lineup (C, E and S).
As the spyshots revealed, the 2017 E Class follows the footsteps of the bigger S and smaller C as far as the exterior design is concerned. The teaser video shows the sedan’s sophisticated Multibeam LED headlights. The LED daytime running elements can be illuminated with both blue and white light. The DRL’s divide the cluster into two compartments to keep up with the E Class’ traditional design trait. Mercedes’ latest elegant curves characterize rest of the design.
Inside, the new dashboard design is a blend of the new C Class and S Class with the influence of the latter being slightly higher. The single wide display accommodates both instrument console and infotainment functions. The multifunction steering wheel boasts of first-of-its-kind touch sensitive controls for audio system.
Based on the MLB architecture which uses aluminium extensively, the 2017 Mercedes E Class is expected to be significantly lighter than its predecessor despite growing in size and packing more equipment. A comprehensive range of improved petrol and diesel engines would be on offer. The station wagon and AMG variants are expected to arrive at a later date.
