Renault Duster was first introduced in 2010. Today, the Duster is not only one of the most important cars in the Renault line-up, but is also their best selling car globally. Considering this, updating the Duster is of utmost importance to the French car maker, especially when the car’s sales are no longer as strong as they were before – thanks to the launch of cars like Tata Hexa, Mahindra XUV500 facelift, etc.
Now, for the first time, spy images of the new generation Duster have emerged. Spotted on test in Europe, the launch of new gen Duster will take place some time next year.
2018 Renault Duster will see new design changes on its exterior with new headlights, front grille and fog lamps. Alloy wheels and bigger wheel arches will also be added while at the rear there will be new tail lamps, redesigned boot door and a spare wheel. One can expect Renault to design the new Duster based on the Oroch which was revealed in Brazil last year.
Apart from this, new Duster will also be longer as compared to existing Duster. This will enable Renault to equip a third row in the Duster for two more seats. These added seats are expected to offer comfortable seating for two adults, and not like the kit which is currently on sale in India. (This kit, which is offered as an accessory, is only to seat a child).
The new Duster will abound in safety features which will include ABS, dual airbags and reverse parking camera among others. Interiors however, remain much the same with only a few upgrades. Not much is known about the platform, but expect a similar architecture as in the current Duster. Also, one can expect the rusting issue to be taken care of, which has been noticed in the Duster’s manufactured in India.
Once launched in India, 2018 Renault Duster will compete against new Tata Hexa and Mahindra Scorpio. Price of next gen Duster is expected to increase, and might be in the range of INR 11-16 lakh.
